Their efforts to provide their students with a healthy breakfast had no consideration to help children to avoid expensive dentistry. They simply wanted their children to be healthier. Breakfast was followed by ‘brush your teeth and rinse and rinse your brush under the tap’. This instruction was interpreted by the children to an action not intended. It unwittingly revealed the inadequacies of the oral hygiene instruction ‘brush your teeth’. It resuted in the new oral hygiene instruction. “Treat Your Mouth”. “Treat Your Mouth” will for generations to come help everyone to avoid expensive dentistry.
These pages are dedicated to those two very special teachers. Time will prove that their contribution was immense in giving young children a better deal in oral health education and the tragic consequences of not knowing all about a smile.
